The dawn of digital age brought major changes in the movie industry. While digital cinematography changed the way movies are shot, new editing software products reduced the time and made it more convenient for movie makers to complete the film. More than a decade has passed since the release of the first movie which used digital cinematography and a lot has happened in the sector. Today, it is necessary for movie making aspirants to have an idea about the latest technological tools used in the domain. VFX is used in most of the movies that are released today. The technique allows movie makers to create new environments through use of software tools. There are many big companies that work on developing new products that can deliver better outputs. There is a pressing need for aspiring students to be aware of the fundamentals of the domain along with knowledge and skills in the tools that are in use in the industry. The BFA programme offered by K L University is specially modelled to help students meet the needs of the industry. It has the core subjects and training sessions that are required to be better prepared for tomorrow’s careers.

Course Objectives

The programme is specially designed to match the existing and future requirements of the moviemaking sector. Students get exposure to many core subjects and tools that are in use at present. The course helps students with the following.
•    Learn the basic concepts of storyboarding, cinematography, production design and get brief introduction to art
•    Develop advanced level knowledge in directing for TV and films, editing concepts, visual special effects and computer graphics
•    Learn compositing, match moving and fundamentals of character effects
•    Get a chance to work on projects under the guidance of knowledgeable professionals

Eligibility

The minimum qualification required to apply for this course is pass in Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination (Academic or Vocational Stream) conducted by Secondary Education Boards.

Admission/ Fee Details

Admissions are open for K L University BFA Digital Filmmaking and VFX course 2017. Eligible candidates who are enthusiastic about a career in movie making can apply for the course.

  • Admission Token Amount – Rs. 15,000/-
  • Semester Fee – Rs. 50,000/-per Semester
  • Total Fee – Rs. 4,00,000/- (Admission fee excluded)
  • Mode of Payment – Only in the form of DD

Job Opportunities After Completing The Course

Media and entertainment is one of the most rapidly growing sectors of India today. There are many TV channels run by big companies which telecast multiple programmes. There are many film industries within the country where big-budget movies are produced. IBEF in a recent report said that the media and entertainment sector in India can grow at CAGR 14.3 percent and hit market worth of Rs. 2.26 trillion by 2020. The advertising industry too is doing well with an expected CAGR growth of 15.9 percent to become Rs 99, 400 crore market. FICCI and KPMG have come up with a report for VFX industry which states that the current worth of the sector in India is Rs. 43.5 billion and can increase to Rs. 87.1 billion by 2020. With double digit growth expected in both sectors, the job opportunities for VFX and digital filmmaking appear to be promising.
